The Barleycorn, formed in 1971 were an Irish Folk Band, most famous famous about their rebel ballads. The original group consisted of Paddy McGuigan, Liam Tiernan, Brian McCormick and John Delaney. Over the years the band had many changes in its line-up. In 1995 The Barleycorn quited and John Delany formed together with Alec DeGabriele a new band, 'New Barlycorn'.
