The jazz band Spyro Gyra began life on an off-night, when Jay Beckenstein and Jeremy Wall set up on stage at Jack Daniels and began fooling around with instrumental music, tossing in everything from Earth, Wind & Fire and Marvin Gaye to Miles Davis records. Members as of 2008:
Jay Beckenstein - saxophones
Tom Schuman - piano, keyboards
Julio Fernandez - guitars
Scott Ambush - bass
