He began composing music for movies in the 90s, working on several successful British movies, enjoying particular success with the soundtracks to Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. Since Snatch, Murphy has been based in Los Angeles. He has produced the scores for several prominent and diverse successes, including Kick Ass, 28 Days Later, Miami Vice, Sunshine, 28 Weeks Later and The Last House on the Left.
