Tephra is a band from Braunschweig, Germany that has existed since the end of 2003. Before they formed Tephra, all the members played in various local bands that were musically quite diversified. Consequently, they bring many different influences into the band. Tephra has developed a unique atmospheric sludge metal sound from these varied sources.
Their first release--as a four piece band--was a self-produced Demo cd with 4 songs.
At the beginning of 2005 they entered the studio to record their first full length Tephra which was released via Riptide Recordings in March 2005.
