A. R. Rahman is an Indian songwriter, born in Chennai, India. He became known internationally for compiling the soundtrack to the motion picture Slumdog Millionaire (2008). M.I.A. is an English artist of Sri Lankan origin. Rahman became interested in M.I.A. after listening to her music, and upon meeting Rahman, the singer said she was a big fan of his work. They composed their collaborations through continuous e-mailing between Rahman in India and M.I.A. in England.
