Jimmy began playing at age 11 and is a self-taught musician.
Ponder has had only one formal guitar lesson in his entire life. Played his first professional gig also at age 11, and was playing clubs regularly by age 13.
He has played on approximately 80 albums in his life. Ponder´s guitar style is very similar to the legendary Wes Montgomery. Ponder is an excellent guitarist, but still very unknown except in jazz circles.
