Thea Gilmore (b. November 25, 1979) was born to Irish parents in Oxfordshire, England. Her parents' collection of Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell albums was of great interest to the young Thea. She began at a young age writing both poetry and short stories. Thea left home at 16 and began her career working in a recording studio, where she was discovered by her now long-time collaborator, producer and sometime co-songwriter Nigel Stonier, who became her husband in a ceremony in October 2005.
