Ruby Johnson was an American soul singer born in North Carolina, USA in 1936 (died 1999). She was signed to legendary soul label Stax/Volt in Memphis in 1965. She released a handful of songs working with, among others, Isaac Hayes. “I’ll Run Your Hurt Away” was among her hits although Ruby Johnson never achieved major commercial success. She retired in the 70's.
