Alan Silvestri (b. 26 March 1950, New York City) is an American film composer. He is known for his numerous collaborations with director Robert Zemeckis, including his work on Forrest Gump (1994), the Back to the Future trilogy (1985,1989–1990), Contact (1997), Cast Away (2000), Romancing the Stone (1984), The Mummy Returns (2001), Predator (1987), The Polar Express (2004), and others. He received Oscar nominations for Best Original Score for Forrest Gump and Best Song for "Believe" on The Polar Express Soundtrack, and a Grammy Award for the music from Cast Away.
