Currently, there are two bands that play under the name The Flamingos This page is for the doo-wop group, established in 1953. They are best known for "I Only Have Eyes For You," in 1959. (originally a hit in 1934 for Ben Selvin and written by Harry Warren and Al Dubin). The group went through several major changes en route to becomming the epitome of Smooth Soul. Version one would be the early group featuring a high 2nd tenor lead on songs like "I'll Be Home" and "Golden Teardrops" on Parrot, Checker, etc. Their harmony included 2 floating falsetto tenors, a baritone, bass, and lead.
