Valencia, CA's Stand Before the Firing Squad experiment with a dizzying mélange of musical styles -- hardcore, grindcore, spazzcore, heavy metal, math metal, even jazz -- on their decidedly post-rock debut album, Noise Machine. Released in 2006 by Hand of Hope Records, the album saw bandmembers Collin Stafford (vocals), Derrick Cisneros (guitar), Nick Connell (bass), and Alex Onate (drums) breaking every rule in most musical theory textbooks in any way they saw fit, or, as they described it, via "a series of noises arranged and unarranged with equal deliberativeness.
