After playing Birdy's hit single "Skinny Love" (originally by Bon Iver) on radiostation 3FM, DJ Giel Beelen received some emails of girls writing: if you like Birdy, please have a look at my video. So he decided to run a contest who would become the "Dutch Birdy". About 400 young girls sent in their video. Eight of them made it to the finals and a winner was announced: 13 year old Anna Verhoeven with her version of Laura Jansen's "Signal".
