Victoria Spivey (1906-1976) was an American female blues singer. She was born October 15, 1906, the daughter of Grant and Addie (Smith) Spivey. Her father was part-time musician and a flag-man for the railroad; her mother was a nurse. Spivey's father had a string band in Houston, Texas, and before she was in her teens she was playing piano for parties. In her teens, she worked in Texas bars, nightclubs, and bordellos, in the company of such luminaries as Blind Lemon Jefferson.
