It's Immaterial
Liverpool band, 1980's. Early single 'A Gigantic Raft (in the Philippines)' used to crop up on Peel at the time. Guitars, keyboards, synth, deadpan vocals. Nicely crafted songs with a sound that has aged pretty well. Breakthrough single 'Driving Away From Home' is a stand-out from a strong crop of tunes. Second album 'Song'(1990) was more sombre, but maintained the same story-telling lyrics and wry humor.
