Narcoleptic Texan bandleader, vocalist and tobacco salesman Milton Brown is one of the original progenitors of Western Swing. In 1931 he co-founded the Light Crust Doughboys with Bob Wills. In 1932 he started Milton Brown and His Musical Brownies with a standup bass, piano, tenor banjo and twin fiddles. Later they were among the first groups to employ electrified steel guitar, establishing the archetypical Western Swing band arrangement. In 1936 he wrecked a car, caught pneumonia and died.
