Hartfield was formed by Takateru kagawa (Guitar/Vocal). Later that year, Yukari Tanaka (Guitar/Vocal) joined the band officially. They Started playing gigs with a support Bassist and Drummer on December 2000. They participated in a compilation CD album named Seven Winters which was released from curse of my bloody valentine. They released three cassette singles by independence production and sold all 1,000 copies of them at independent record stores in and around Tokyo. Hartfield was later signed to Vinyl Junkie Recordings.
