Anarka and Poppy formed in 1982 in Preston, Lancashire, emerging from the local squat scene in Preston. Anarka and Poppy were brought together after Nihilist Insurrection, a previous local band Sean and Jane were in, had split. Anarka and Poppy were comprised mainly of animal rights activists and anarchists - animal rights and anarchism being the subject matter that our songs were solely comprised of.
