Shirley Jones is perhaps, best known for her role on the Partridge Family on television, but her screen roles in "Carousel," and "Oklahoma" introduced her as the perfect lead for two of the most popular screen adaptations of these two Rodgers and Hammerstein's musicals. Her voice and her on screen personna, made her a favorite of both Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein who had selected her for their movie versions of these two classic musical comedies.
