Johnnie is Johnnie Richardson, who was born in Montgomery Alabama on June 29, 1945 and later moved to The Bronx in New York City. Her Mom was a gal named Zell Sanders. Joe is Joe Rivers, born in Charleston, South Carolina on March 20, 1937. He was living in the Bronx when he heard the song, "Over The Mountain" which was written by a neighbor of his, a guy by the name of Rex Garvin. They recruited Zell's daughter, Johnnie to sing background on the record and it was released on the Chess Label and became a hit in 1957.
