Robson Banda & the New Black Eagles came out of the same wave of Zimbabwe's guitar-driven dance music in the mid/late 1980s as many of the names that made it big in the West - the Bhundu Boys, Thomas Mapfumo, the Four Brothers and others.
Tracks on compilations such as Zimbabwe Frontline (Earthworks) raised the band's profile and imports of vinyl LPs such as Dzinomwa Muna Save and Soweto made it to the UK in the late 80s.
Robson Banda reportedly died in 1998.
